Cabell Huntington Hospital is a regional, 303-bed referral center located in Huntington, West Virginia. Cabell Huntington cares for patients from more than 29 counties throughout West Virginia, eastern Kentucky and southern Ohio. Opened in 1956, it is also a teaching hospital and is affiliated with Marshall University Schools of Medicine and Nursing.

According to the Eleventh Annual HealthGrades Hospital Quality in America Study, Cabell Huntington Hospital ranks #1 in West Virginia for overall orthopedic services and joint replacement. HealthGrades is an independent reviewer of hospital quality. For this study, more than 41 million Medicare hospitalization records were reviewed from the nation's approximately 5,000 non-federal hospitals.

The study listed the following achievements by Cabell Huntington Hospital's orthopedics program:

  • Ranked No. 1 in West Virginia for overall orthopedic services and joint replacement in 2008 and 2009
  • Ranked among the top 5 percent in the nation for joint replacement in 2008 and 2009

Profile:

The second oldest hospital in Kansas, Stormont-Vail Regional Health Center is the product of a merger between Christ's Hospital (founded in 1884) and the Jane C. Stormont Hospital and Training School for Nurses (1894). It has grown from a four-story hospital to a 586-bed acute care referral center for northeast Kansas. In the last generation, the health center has continued to serve the community while keeping pace with rapid changes in the health care field. Today, Stormont-Vail provides services not only for hospitalized patients, but for the growing number of outpatients. These services range from the county's most specialized level of infant care to a variety of older adult services.
